Physical Therapist
John Buttari, PT, MSPT, CSCS is a native northern Virginian joining TCOA in 2012. He became interested in physical therapy when friends and family members underwent rehabilitation and, himself, when he was playing various recreational sports: soccer, tennis, football, and martial arts. He graduated with honors in biology from Longwood University in 1995. He earned his degree Master of Science physical therapy from VCU in 2001. He initially started practicing in geriatric settings including skilled nursing and home health clinical settings which enabled him to appreciate medical complications frequently associated with elderly patients.
His specialty is outpatient orthopedics that relies on evidence-based manual therapy, functional exercises, and integrated treatment of the neuro-musculo-skeletal systems. Continued enhancement of manual therapy skills and knowledge through continuing education courses are a priority in John’s career development. He believes in a thorough assessment of symptom behavior and close monitoring of treatment effects to ensure effective treatment. He enjoys working with a variety patients of all ages covering the full spectrum of orthopedic conditions. Interests include: sport injuries, degenerative conditions of both the spine and extremities, and post-operative rehabilitation. Moreover, he emphasizes the importance of regular exercise for a healthy life style.
He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist.
